Our impact

At The Curious Beetle we are passionate about making a difference in the world, not only through
our purpose-driven business consultancy, but also through our direct contributions to the NGO “Haciendo Camino” which focuses on reducing childhood hunger in Argentina.

Why is giving back
so important?

We are committed to help entrepreneurs, and small to medium-sized enterprises, develop and implement sustainable business practices aligned with the Triple Impact Concept: Planet, People and Profit.

For us, the true success of the company is not only measured by the profits but also by the size of the impact achieved.

We firmly believe that solidarity should be a part of every business. That’s why giving back is a core pillar of our identity.

We also like to motivate, and assist others to build a business that gives back in some way, because every single person is a potential agent of change. No matter how big or small, as an entrepreneur or a large enterprise, we all have the ability to make a difference, and together we can achieve an even bigger positive impact on our world.

What is the positive
impact we decided
to address?

We direct our efforts towards children in need. Our energies are focussed on Argentina, the land of our birth. Part of our income, from every product and service we offer, will be donated to “Haciendo Camino” to provide breakfasts for children in northern Argentina and help minimise the problems with childhood malnutrition.

It is not always easy to decide how you would like to focus your efforts for positive change, especially at a time when there are so many issues that need global attention. However, for us, hunger is something that truly resonates in our hearts, especially in children.

We believe that all children should have the opportunity to thrive, to learn, to play and to grow, and at the core of this belief is that all children should have enough food to eat, as nutrition forms the base of a child’s ability to live their best life.

The challenge:
“Childhood Hunger”

Globally 200 million (29%) children under five suffer from chronic and acute malnutrition – Unicef.org.uk. Chronic malnutrition is when children don’t get the food and nutrients they need. As they grow up it can cause stunting. It affected an estimated 149 million children under 5 globally in 2018. Acute malnutrition happens when a child doesn’t get enough food and weighs too little for their height. These children become very thin – a condition known as wasting. In 2018, wasting threatened the lives of an estimated 49 million children under 5 globally.

We believe by giving children the nutrition they need to reach their potential, we will be making a positive impact on the world for generations to come.

Giving children access to breakfast, especially in a school environment, gives them more opportunities to pursue and complete their education, empowering them to do something great with their lives, as well as encouraging their communities to develop and thrive.

The United Nations
World Food Program
considers hunger
one of the most solvable
problems that faces
the world today.

Therefore, we have focused our positive impact towards achieving the goal of “ZERO HUNGER” as part of the 17’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by United Nations, to help improve the lives of children and to make a difference for their future.

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

Our commitment
to early childhood
hunger in Argentina

As Argentines, we started our NGO search in our own country and discovered “Haciendo Camino.”

Their trajectory, experience and its Nutrition Programme, impelled us to collaborate with this fantastic project.

Its programmes and on-the-ground knowledge ensure that every purchase you make to The Curious Beetle will directly benefit children in need in the north of Argentina.

You too can help us to feed these children!

Mental and physical growth, and

ultimately potential to create a

better future, is dependent on

most basic human need:

getting enough food to eat.
Where we are giving

Haciendo Camino has several Centres for the prevention of child Malnutrition and family

in the provinces of Santiago del Estero and Chaco, Argentina.

They also work giving assistance in neighbourhoods and rural locations.

What do we give?

With every purchase, we provide
breakfasts for children in the
framework of the

Nutrition Program of
Haciendo Camino

The environment in which a child is born, grows, and lives, is fundamental to their health (mental and physical), development and potential. Children need adequate nutrition and an affectionate environment to grow and be given their best chance.

The consequences of malnutrition affect all aspects of a child’s life and are reflected in their health and growth, and in their intellectual, social, and emotional development.

Therefore, the best intervention strategy takes place early on; empowering the family, mainly mothers, and the community with education, tools, and an adequate supply of nutrients to help combat hunger within their own communities. When this takes place it generates significant recovery, and even prevention, of the direct consequences that result from childhood malnutrition.

Comprehensive programmes of nutritional, social and psycho-affective intervention in conditions of poverty and underdevelopment, prevent child morbidity and mortality, also improving growth and development.

The Breakfast includes a nutritional mix composed of :
Cooked mate (green tea) with milk and sweet bread (pasta frola, sponge cake, biscuits), rice with milk, yogurt with cereals, milk and fruit smoothie plus sweet biscuits, jelly with yogurt and chopped biscuits, cornstarch with milk or Catalan cream, chocolate with bread and jam, etc..

The average cost of each breakfast defined by the NGO is 40 ARG Pesos (US$ 1,00) – March 2019

When you purchase one of our products or services, you will contribute directly to Haciendo Camino’s nutrition plan.

This means your purchase goes directly to providing breakfast to a child in need in Northern Argentina.

These breakfasts make a huge difference in the lives of these children, giving them a better chance for a bright future.
